Greater Antillean Grackle, Quiscalus niger, is a resident bird of the Greater Antilles in North America, including Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, with some subspecies also on the Cayman Islands. It belongs to the blackbird family, Icteridae. It is an open-country species that also uses towns and cities, where it may gather in large communal roosts. Adults of both sexes are entirely black, with males showing a glossy sheen and a long tail held in a V. The species has seven recognised subspecies.
