Greater Honeyguide, Indicator indicator, is a resident breeder across Africa and belongs to the honeyguide family in the order Piciformes. It was described by Sparrman in 1777. It lives in many wooded places, with a clear preference for dry open woodland, and it is absent from the West African rain forest. It is best known for leading people to wild bee nests. Its name reflects that link with human honey-hunters, and reports that it also directs other animals remain disputed.
