Alaemon alaudipes
The Greater Hoopoe-Lark (Alaemon alaudipes) is a medium-sized lark found in arid and semi-arid regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. It is known for its distinctive long, slender bill and striking black and white plumage on the face and throat. The upperparts are sandy brown with intricate patterning, and the underparts are pale with dark streaks. This species is often observed running on the ground in search of insects and seeds, and its melodious song can be heard during the breeding season. The Greater Hoopoe-Lark is well adapted to desert environments and is capable of surviving in harsh, dry conditions.
