Greater Thornbird, Phacellodomus ruber, is a passerine of the Furnariidae family that breeds in western Bolivia, central Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is a resident bird and is usually found close to water in thickets beside rivers and streams, gallery forest edges, marsh margins and scrub. It is the heaviest and reddest thornbird, and the sexes look alike. Adults show a chestnut crown, rufous-brown to grey-brown facial tones, and wings and tail in rich rufous-chestnut.
