Greater Yellownape, Chrysophlegma flavinucha, is a woodpecker of the Oriental Region, with a breeding range that is widespread there. It occurs in East Asia, from northern and eastern India through south-eastern China and Indochina to Hainan and Sumatra. It lives in moist lowland forest and moist montane forest in subtropical and tropical areas. A notable feature is its yellow-crested nape and throat, which stand out against its olive-green plumage. The crown is brownish, the flight feathers are chestnut with black barring, and the bill often appears whitish.
