Green-and-rufous Kingfisher, Chloroceryle inda, is a kingfisher of Middle and South America, from Nicaragua to northern Bolivia and south-eastern Brazil, with records also in western Colombia and north-western Ecuador. It lives along streams and rivers, in wooded swamps and mangroves, and keeps to thickly planted banks rather than open edges. The bird has the usual kingfisher form, with a rather shaggy crest and a long, strong bill. Males and females are alike in overall pattern, though females show a broad green band across the upper breast and more spotting above.
