Pteroglossus viridis
The Green Aracari is a striking bird found in the lowland forests of northern South America. It is a member of the toucan family and is known for its vibrant plumage and distinctive bill. These birds are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally insects. They are often seen in small flocks, moving through the forest canopy in search of food. Green Aracaris play an important role in seed dispersal, helping to maintain the diversity of plant species in their habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, they are currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
