Green-backed Camaroptera

Camaroptera brachyura (Vieillot, 1821)

Green-backed Camaroptera, Camaroptera brachyura, is a passerine of the Cisticolidae family that breeds in eastern and southern Africa. It is a resident bird across sub-Saharan Africa. A key feature is its habit of staying low in thick cover, where it works large leaves together in a bush and places a grass nest inside them. The species was described by Vieillot in 1821. It is also known as the bleating camaroptera. Five subspecies are recognised, with the nominate form in south and east South Africa and others ranging through Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
