Frederickena viridis
The Green-backed Honeybird (Frederickena viridis) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. This species is known for its unique behavior of laying its eggs in the nests of other bird species, particularly those of the common waxbill. The Green-backed Honeybird has a distinctive green back, with a yellow throat and breast, and a greyish-white belly. It primarily feeds on insects and nectar, using its slender, curved bill to extract food from flowers and foliage. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Green-backed Honeybird is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
