Green-backed Kingfisher, Actenoides monachus, is a kingfisher of Sulawesi in Australasia. It is part of the family Alcedinidae and was described by Bonaparte in 1850. Its range is limited to north and central Sulawesi, with records also from Manadotua and Lembeh. It occurs in dense tropical moist lowland forest, reaching 900 m elevation. It is found in Lore Lindu, Bogani Nani Wartabone and Tangkoko Batuangus. The black-headed kingfisher was once included with it, but was recognised as a separate species in 2014.
