Green-breasted Barbet

The Green-breasted Barbet (Pogoniulus uropygialis) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of West Africa. It has a distinctive green breast, black head, and red and yellow facial markings. This barbet is known for its distinctive call, a series of melodious whistles. It forages for fruits, insects, and small vertebrates in the forest canopy. The Green-breasted Barbet nests in tree cavities and is known for its territorial behavior. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
