Green Catbird, Ailuroedus crassirostris, lives in subtropical and temperate forest along the east coast of Australia, from south-eastern Queensland to south-eastern New South Wales. It is a bowerbird of the family Ptilonorhynchidae and was described by Paykull in 1815. The bird is known for a call that recalls a cat’s meow and can also be taken for a child crying. It is a stocky species with a stout bill and long legs, and the sexes look alike. Its plumage is green with white wing markings, a brownish tail with white tips, and a mottled head.
