Green Hermit, Phaethornis guy, is a hummingbird that breeds from Costa Rica through Panama and on to se Peru. It lives in forest undergrowth, usually close to water, and is especially associated with hilly ground, primary rainforest and wet premontane forest. It can persist in some disturbed places, including subsistence farmland, but avoids secondary forest when better cover is available. Males gather at leks for courtship. The species lays a single egg in a conical nest hung beneath a large leaf, often above water.
