Green Oropendola

Green Oropendola, Psarocolius viridis, is a passerine of the Icteridae family that breeds in Amazonia in South America. It is a forest bird of the Amazon Basin, especially in humid primary woodland such as várzea, terra firme, gallery forest and lower montane forest, and it is scarce in disturbed habitat. Adults are mostly yellowish olive, with pink to dull orange around the lores and eye, chestnut underparts and a large bill with a swollen casque. Males carry a long nape crest, while females do not. It was first described in 1776 by Müller.
