Green Peafowl

Pavo muticus

The Green Peafowl (Pavo muticus) is a striking bird known for its vibrant plumage and elongated tail feathers. Males display iridescent green and blue plumage, while females have a more subdued appearance. This species is native to Southeast Asia, where it inhabits dense forests and wooded areas near water sources. Green Peafowls are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of plant matter, insects, and small vertebrates. They are known for their loud calls and elaborate courtship displays. Unfortunately, habitat loss and hunting have led to population declines, and the Green Peafowl is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
