Green Rosella

Platycercus caledonicus

The Green Rosella (Platycercus caledonicus) is a colorful parrot species native to Tasmania and nearby islands in Australia. It is known for its striking green plumage, with a bright red head and yellow underparts. These medium-sized parrots are often found in forests, woodlands, and urban areas, where they feed on seeds, fruits, and nectar. Green Rosellas are social birds, often seen in small flocks or pairs. They are known for their raucous calls and acrobatic flight displays during courtship. While they are not currently considered at risk, habitat loss and competition for nesting sites with introduced species are potential threats to their populations.
