Galbula galbula (Linnaeus, 1766)
Green-tailed Jacamar, Galbula galbula, is a bird of northern South America, breeding in Amazonia across Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela. It belongs to the jacamar family and is the only member of its species. It is found along the edges of humid forests, including terra firme, várzea, gallery forest and mangrove, and also in open woodland, savanna and shrubland, especially near water. Its range extends from eastern Colombia through southern and eastern Venezuela and the Guianas into Brazil. It was described by Linnaeus in 1766.
