Grenada Dove, Leptotila wellsi, is a pigeon and dove of Grenada in North America, where it breeds on the island. It was first named by Lawrence in 1884. The bird is tied to the main island and has also been noted in the west and south-west of Grenada. Its habitat is linked with dry forest areas, especially degraded mosaics of evergreen forest, semi-evergreen forest, deciduous seasonal forest and thorn woodland, often close to people. It is the national bird of Grenada and is regarded as one of the world’s most critically endangered doves.
