Hemicircus concretus (Temminck, 1821)

Grey-and-buff Woodpecker, Hemicircus concretus, is a woodpecker of the Oriental Region, breeding in the Malay Peninsula and the Greater Sundas. It lives in tropical forest, including lowland and montane moist broadleaf woodland. The bird has a plump shape, a short rounded tail and a large-looking head with a prominent cone-shaped crest. Its plumage is mainly grey, blackish, white and buff, with males showing a red forehead and grey crest, while females have both grey. It was first described by Temminck in 1821.
