Grey-breasted Martin, Progne chalybea, is a swallow of Middle America and South America, where it is widespread. It was described by Gmelin in 1789 and belongs to the family Hirundinidae. This bird is a large martin with a forked tail and fairly broad wings. It nests in cavities in banks and buildings, and also uses old woodpecker holes. The lined nest usually holds two to four eggs. The species is placed in the genus Progne, which contains nine species.
