Grey Butcherbird, Cracticus torquatus, is a passerine in the Artamidae family and breeds across Australia apart from the north. It is found through southern Australia and lives in arid, semi-arid and temperate areas. It does not occur in the deserts of central Australia or the monsoon tropics of the north. The species is also well established in suburban areas of several Australian cities, including Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Hobart. It was described by Latham in 1801. Its song is distinctive and rollicking.
