Grey-crowned Crocias

Laniellus langbianis (Gyldenstolpe, 1939)

Grey-crowned Crocias, Laniellus langbianis, is a passerine in the family Leiothrichidae and breeds in Vietnam. It is confined to the Da Lat Plateau, with records also from the Kontum Plateau in Central Vietnam, where it may be more numerous. It lives in intact broadleaf evergreen forest and secondary forest, usually close to watercourses, at 910–1450 m above sea-level. The species was once placed in Crocias, but Laniellus has priority. It is threatened by habitat loss and is difficult to detect, which led to it being treated as critically endangered in the past.
