Grey-crowned Ground Sparrow, Melozone occipitalis, is a passerine of the New World sparrow family that breeds in southern Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. It was first described by Salvin in 1878. The species is split into two separated populations, one in southern Mexico and Guatemala, the other in El Salvador. It lives in open and partly open places, including river-edge woodland, forest margins, coffee farms, cultivated land and urban thickets. It is a resident bird throughout the year. Its breeding season includes May and June, and little else is known about its nesting.
