Grey-crowned Woodpecker, Colaptes auricularis, is a woodpecker of western Mexico, where it is found from southern Sonora and Chihuahua to southern Oaxaca. It lives in the interior and along the edges of semi-humid and humid forest, and also occurs locally in pine-oak forest. It is a year-round resident across its range. The species is recognised by the light grey crown and nape of adult males, while females lack red on the head.
