Grey Flycatcher

Empidonax wrightii

The Grey Flycatcher (Empidonax wrightii) is a small, insect-eating bird found in the western United States and Mexico. It is known for its distinctive call and foraging behavior, often perching on exposed branches to catch flying insects. This species is olive-gray above with a pale belly and a noticeable eye ring. It is often found in arid scrublands, chaparral, and open woodlands, where it builds its cup-shaped nest in a shrub or small tree. The Grey Flycatcher is a migratory bird, spending the winter in Mexico and Central America. Its population is considered stable, and it is not currently listed as a species of concern.
