Grey Goshawk
Tachyspiza novaehollandiae (Gmelin, JF, 1788)

Grey Goshawk Tachyspiza novaehollandiae breeds in north-western Western Australia, eastern Queensland, south-western Victoria and Tasmania. It is a medium-sized bird of prey in the Accipitridae family, and the white form is called the white goshawk. The species was once placed in Accipiter. On mainland Australia it is the largest member of Tachyspiza, and females are much bigger than males. It occurs in forests, tall woodlands and wooded watercourses. Grey and white goshawks interbreed freely, and the species pairs for life.
