Grey-headed Bulbul

Brachypodius priocephalus (Jerdon, 1839)

Pycnonotidae — Bulbuls

Grey-headed Bulbul, Brachypodius priocephalus, is a bulbul of the Western Ghats in south-western India, recorded from Goa south to Tamil Nadu and up to 1200m. It lives in moist evergreen forest with bamboo and thick undergrowth, and also in dense reeds or thickets, especially beside rivers and in swampy parts of forest. Its presence is often given away by a sharp single-note call, because it is difficult to see in heavy cover. It is a resident bird, and it is also found singly or in small groups.
