Grey-headed Kite, Leptodon cayanensis, is a bird of Middle America and South America, breeding from eastern Mexico to northern Argentina. It belongs to the Accipitridae family and was described by Latham in 1790. It is found in open woodland and swamp forest. A notable feature is its membership of the genus Leptodon, which it shares with the very rare white-collared kite. The species is also known for its juvenile plumages, which occur in three forms and can closely resemble other hawk-eagles.
