Vanellus tectus
The Grey-headed Lapwing is a medium-sized wader found in East Asia. It has a distinctive grey head, white underparts, and brown wings. During the breeding season, it displays a black breast band and a yellow bill. This species is known for its loud, melodious calls. Grey-headed Lapwings prefer open grasslands, wetlands, and rice fields as their breeding and foraging grounds. They are often seen foraging for insects and small invertebrates in shallow water. Although they are not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to their populations.
