Grey-headed Lapwing

Vanellus tricolor

The Grey-headed Lapwing (Vanellus tricolor) is a medium-sized wader found in East Asia. It has a distinctive grey head, white underparts, and black and white wings. During the breeding season, it displays a striking black breast band. These birds inhabit wetlands, marshes, and flooded fields, where they forage for insects, small invertebrates, and seeds. They are known for their distinctive calls and aerial displays during courtship. The Grey-headed Lapwing is not globally threatened, but it faces habitat loss and degradation in some parts of its range.
