Grey-headed lovebird

Agapornis canus

The Grey-headed lovebird (Agapornis canus) is a small parrot species native to the dry woodlands and savannas of central Tanzania. These lovebirds are characterized by their predominantly green plumage, with a distinctive grey head and upper beak. They are social birds, often found in flocks, and are known for their playful and affectionate behavior towards their mates. Grey-headed lovebirds primarily feed on a variety of seeds, fruits, and vegetation. They are cavity nesters, often utilizing old woodpecker holes or natural tree hollows for breeding. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade are potential concerns for their populations.
