Grey-headed Sparrow

Salpornis spilonota

The Grey-headed Sparrow (Salpornis spilonota) is a small, social bird found in the savannas and grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa. With a distinctive grey head, brown upperparts, and a pale grey underbelly, this species is easily recognized. Grey-headed Sparrows are often found in small flocks foraging on the ground for seeds and insects. They build cup-shaped nests in thorny bushes or trees and are known for their melodious calls. This species is adaptable and can also be found in agricultural areas and urban gardens.
