Grey-headed Tanager, Eucometis penicillata, is a tanager of Middle and South America, ranging from south-east Mexico through Central America to south-east Brazil and north Paraguay. It belongs to the family Thraupidae and is the only species in its genus. Its breeding range includes se Mexico to sc Brazil and n Paraguay. It was first described by Spix in 1825. The bird is associated with moist lowland forest, tropical swamps and heavily altered former forest.
