Grey-rumped Treeswift

Hemiprocne coronata

The Grey-rumped Treeswift (Hemiprocne coronata) is a species of treeswift found in Southeast Asia. These birds are known for their distinctive aerial acrobatics and are often seen gliding gracefully through the forest canopy. They have a sleek, streamlined body, long wings, and a short, slightly forked tail. The plumage is predominantly grey with a contrasting white throat and grey rump. Grey-rumped Treeswifts are highly adapted for an arboreal lifestyle, using their short legs and sharp claws to cling to vertical surfaces. They primarily feed on flying insects, which they catch in mid-air using their wide beaks. These birds are typically found in lowland forests and wooded areas, where they nest and roost in the canopy.
