Grey-tailed Tattler

Tringa brevipes

The Grey-tailed Tattler (Tringa brevipes) is a small migratory wader found in East Asia and Australia. It has a distinctive grey tail and a white belly, with a mottled brown and grey back. During the breeding season, it displays a dark-spotted chest. This species is known for its long migrations, traveling from its breeding grounds in Siberia to its wintering grounds in Southeast Asia and Australia. It prefers coastal habitats such as mudflats, estuaries, and sandy beaches, where it forages for small invertebrates in the shallow waters. The Grey-tailed Tattler is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN due to its large population and widespread distribution.
