Grey Vireo

Vireo modestus

The Grey Vireo (Vireo modestus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is characterized by its grey plumage, white eye-ring, and slender bill. This species is known for its melodious, warbling song, often heard in arid scrubland and desert habitats. Grey Vireos build cup-shaped nests in thorny shrubs, where they raise their young. They forage for insects and spiders among foliage and branches, using their sharp beaks to capture prey. While not currently considered at risk, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to the Grey Vireo's population.
