Grill's Coucal

Centropus grillii

Grill's Coucal (Centropus grillii) is a species of cuckoo found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive deep booming call that resonates through the dense vegetation. This medium-sized bird has a long tail, broad wings, and a stout bill. It primarily feeds on insects, small mammals, and reptiles. The Grill's Coucal is a secretive bird, often remaining hidden within the thick undergrowth. It builds its nest in dense vegetation, where it lays its eggs. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and degradation pose a threat to its populations.
