Hydrobates macrodactylus (Bryant, WE, 1887)
Guadalupe Storm Petrel, Hydrobates macrodactylus, is a northern storm petrel of the Procellariiformes that bred on Guadalupe Island west of Baja California in north-west Mexico. It was a seabird tied to that island’s breeding grounds, where it nested in burrows beneath the cloud forest on Mount Augusta. The species was very close in appearance to Leach’s storm petrel, but could be told apart in the hand by its slightly larger build and paler underwing coverts. It was first described by Bryant in 1887.
