These nocturnal birds are often found in dense forests, woodlands, and semi-open areas. They primarily feed on insects, small mammals, and other birds. The Guatemalan Screech Owl is characterized by its reddish-brown plumage with intricate patterns, and it has a wingspan of approximately 18-20 inches. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and deforestation pose threats to its population. As a result, its conservation status is currently listed as 'Least Concern' by the IUCN.
