Guianan Schiffornis

Schiffornis olivacea (Ridgway, 1906)

Guianan Schiffornis, Schiffornis olivacea, is a passerine of the Tityridae family found in south-eastern Venezuela, Guyana and north-central Brazil, with records also from the Guianas. It lives mainly in the interior of humid and wet forest, and only seldom at forest edges or in mature secondary growth. The species was first described in 1906 and is now treated as a separate bird from the former broader Schiffornis turdina complex. It is monotypic and is mostly a lowland bird, though it has been recorded at about 1,450 m in Bolívar.
