Selenidera piperivora (Linnaeus, 1758)

Guianan Toucanet, Selenidera piperivora, is a toucan of ne Amazonia in South America, recorded from extreme southeastern Venezuela through the Guianas and into northern Brazil. It lives in moist forest, including gallery forest in savanna, and it prefers primary forest to selectively logged areas. It is usually found up to 600 m, though in Venezuela and Suriname it reaches 900 m. The species is a year-round resident across its range. Its bill shows a yellowish line at the base, with mostly black upper and lower parts and red at the base, extending farther on the lower mandible.
