Guianan Tyrannulet

Zimmerius acer (Salvin & Godman, 1883)

Guianan Tyrannulet, Zimmerius acer, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family found in the Guianas and north-eastern Brazil. It also occurs in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela. It is a resident bird of humid tropical forest, using both terra firme and várzea. In intact woodland it is usually in the canopy, especially near openings and forest margins. It is the only member of its genus. The species was first named in 1883 and was later restored to full species rank after long being treated as part of the Slender-footed Tyrannulet.
