Gurney's Eagle

Aquila gurneyi

Gurney's eagle (Aquila gurneyi) is a large, powerful raptor found in the forests and wooded savannas of Southeast Asia. This majestic bird of prey is known for its striking appearance, featuring a dark brown body, contrasting with a white underside and a distinctive crest of feathers on its head. With a wingspan of around 180-220 cm, Gurney's eagle is an impressive sight as it soars through the skies in search of its prey, which primarily consists of small mammals and birds. Despite being a formidable hunter, the species faces threats from habitat loss and degradation, leading to concerns about its conservation status.
