Hammond's Flycatcher

Empidonax hammondii

The Hammond's Flycatcher is a small, insect-eating bird found in western North America. It is known for its olive-green upperparts, pale underparts, and distinct eye ring. This species is often found in coniferous forests, where it perches on high branches to hunt for flying insects. Its song is a soft, high-pitched 'seep' or 'pseet' sound. Hammond's Flycatcher is a migratory bird, spending winters in Mexico and Central America. Its breeding habitat includes montane coniferous forests and mixed woodlands. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and climate change, the conservation status of Hammond's Flycatcher is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
