Coturnix delegorguei
The Harlequin Quail (Coturnix delegorguei) is a small ground-dwelling bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its intricate and striking plumage, with a mottled pattern of black, brown, and white feathers that provide excellent camouflage in its grassland and savanna habitats. These quails are primarily seed-eaters and forage for food on the ground, using their cryptic coloration to avoid predators. They are often found in pairs or small groups. The Harlequin Quail is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
