Hartlaub's Duck, Pteronetta hartlaubii, is a duck in the Anatidae family and the order Anseriformes. It is found in Africa, with a breeding range from Sierra Leone to south-west Uganda and northern Angola. The species is the only member of its genus. It is named for the German naturalist Gustav Hartlaub. It lives in African forests and is resident across equatorial West and Central Africa. Its range also includes swampy marshes, tropical forests, savanna areas, rivers and streams, and in Liberia it occurs in mangroves.
