Hartlaub's scrub robin

Cercotrichas hartlaubi

Hartlaub's scrub robin (Cercotrichas hartlaubi) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the woodlands and scrublands of eastern and southern Africa. This species is characterized by its distinctive brown and gray plumage, with a white throat and belly. It has a melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Hartlaub's scrub robin forages on the ground for insects and small invertebrates, using its sharp bill to probe leaf litter and soil. It builds cup-shaped nests in dense vegetation, where it lays and incubates its eggs. Although widespread, habitat loss and degradation pose threats to its populations.
