Pternistis hartlaubi
Hartlaub's Spurfowl, scientifically known as Pternistis hartlaubi, is a bird species native to eastern Africa. This medium-sized bird is characterized by its mottled brown plumage, red facial skin, and distinctive white-spotted wings. It is often found in dense woodlands and forest edges, where it forages for seeds, fruits, and insects on the forest floor. The species is known for its melodious calls, especially during the breeding season. Hartlaub's Spurfowl is generally secretive in nature and prefers to stay concealed within the undergrowth. While not currently assessed by the IUCN, its habitat may be threatened by deforestation and habitat loss.
