Harwood's Spurfowl, Pternistis harwoodi, lives in montane Ethiopia and belongs to the Phasianidae. It is confined to the Ethiopian Highlands on both sides of the Blue Nile, between Lake Tana and the Jamma River confluence, including the tributaries in that stretch. It is also known as Harwood's Francolin. The female is paler than the male and shows a broader buff belly, while both sexes share the same general colouring. The bird was described by Blundell and Lovat in 1899.
