Hawaii Amakihi

Chlorodrepanis virens (Gmelin, JF, 1788)

Hawaii Amakihi, Chlorodrepanis virens, is a Hawaiian honeycreeper found in the Hawaiian Islands of the Pacific Ocean, including the Big Island, Maui and Molokaʻi. It is a small bird with a yellow-green plumage and a black bill, and it is one of the most widespread native forest birds in Hawaii. It uses many habitats, from dry māmane woodland to wetter forests, and on Maui it also lives in stands of introduced pines, cypresses and firs. Its song is a rapid trill.
